Location and Local Facilities: The Estate of Plas Blaenddol is a 9 acre estate that is divided into two distinct areas.

One: The delightful established Victorian walled garden has 100 year old trees, rhododendrons and azaleas. The circular drive is bordered by lawns and shrubberies, bluebells and hydrangeas, leading down to the magnificent copper beech in front of Manor and Lake Houses. The lake is fed by an underground stream and natural springs. Water rushes through a sunken garden, along the millrace and across the site of an old waterwheel.

Two: The natural beauty of our unspoiled little river valley with rock pools and miniature waterfalls, tumbling down to the River Tiegl. This conservation area has recently been designated a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' as it forms part of the ancient sessile oak woodlands of southern Snowdonia.

Plas Blaenddol is situated in the village of Llan Ffestinog which is delightfully situated midway between sea and mountain with breathtaking views of the Vale of Ffestiniog, amidst scenery that has long been admired by painters and poets. Steeped in history, the landscape is dotted with ancient castles and older Iron Age forts. The historic castles of Harlech, Criccieth and Dolwyddelan are all within easy reach.

At Porthmadog (10 miles), a lively seaside town with an attractive harbour, is the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway whose narrow gauge steam train takes you to the fascinating slate caverns of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The sub-tropical Italianate village of Portmeirion is only a few miles away, as well as the gardens of Plas Tan y Bwlch. and the resplendent Bodnant Gardens.

Please look at our own website for comprehensive information on what you can do in the area - these include Angling, Golf, Horse Riding, Narrow Gauge Railway Visits, White Water Rafting, Yachting, Canoeing, Quad Biking & Off Road Driving, Walking, Target Shooting, Cultural Visits & Mountain Biking.

Transport can also be arranged to take you to the various places if necessary. This is of particular interest to walkers to free them from the limitation of planning only circular walks.
